Samuel Dubuisson

PhD Student in Computer Science

Presentation

Hello! I am a PhD student at Inria, within the Spirals research team, where I started my PhD in October 2025.

My research lies at the intersection of digital sustainability, distributed computing, and systems thinking. I investigate the material and energy impacts of digital technologies and explore possible levers for reducing them.

More specifically, I study distributed data centers and investigate how scheduling algorithms can help minimize their impacts while accounting for multiple sustainability dimensions, including energy consumption, carbon emissions, and water usage.

More broadly, I aim to adopt a systemic perspective on digital sustainability, capturing socio-environmental dynamics and accounting for rebound effects and indirect impacts.
